Join us on Saturday 3rd August for our Grand Summer Fete. There'll be entertainment, stalls, raffle, tombola, games, face painting & food! Lots of fun to be had by all! Ship ahoy! Our annual boat trip aboard Mary Sunley 2 on the Macclesfield Canal will be on 7th August. Due to the size of the boat, places are limited, but if you would like to come and assist us with your family member, please speak to either April or Natalie, our activities coordinator. And finally, we are holding a China Experience Day on 29th August when we'll be sampling Chinese food and lots more!
See what's been happening at Woodlands Care Centre.... Welcome to our Summer Newsletter where our gardens are looking stunning thanks to the hard work of Steve, our maintenance man, with help from April, activities coordinator, who has planed up the hanging baskets and is also nurturing the sunflowers to give them the best chance of winning the Premier Foods competition that we have entered. I hope you've all noticed the beautiful new sash windows that we've had fitted to the front of the property. We've replaced 20 windows in total including the bay window in the main lounge scheduled for June 13-14th. Since removing the ivy earlier this year, we need to repaint the front of the building & that is currently being planned to happen as soon as possible. We finally have our new sign in place which is a great improvement & utilizes our new company logo. We plan to install the electrical supply so that the sign can be lit from the top before the dark evenings arrive again, along with better lighting to the car park before winter. We are awaiting permission from Cheshire East Council to remove the large sycamore that is growing close to our neighbour's property and causing them concern. This is the first large tree on the left of the driveway. We plan to replace it with a more useful but less imposing baking apple tree, that we can benefit from for years to come. Inside, we have a new staff photoboard above the visitor drinks station, to help you identify all our staff members. We will soon be provisioning staff name badges too. Continuing inside, we have fitted vertical blinds to the bedrooms that overlook the side and front of property, to provide more privacy. These blinds are made of Teflon coated fabric, easily wipeable and considered the optimum for infection control. We have completed our kitchen refurbishment and the laundry now has two new, more energy efficient, tumble dryers. We have started on the programme of carpet replacement. This will be carried out over several months and be sympathetic to the extension plans being drawn up, so please bear with us as it may look a little odd at times as areas of carpet that we would have preferred to replace may remain longer due to the master plan we are working to. Our Master Plan for extension is nearing finalization. We will share it with you at the next relatives meeting. The Manager's and Nurses office have now been swapped around to give the new management team more space to work more effectively. Thanks to Steve, Nina and Jen for their hard work to make this happen with minimum disruption to the smooth running of the home. Coming soon to the Woodlands! We are immensely excited about our new acquisition which will shortly be arriving at the Woodlands. We have teamed up with our sister home, Auden House in Manchester, to purchase a high tech interactive table with a huge variety of activities for our residents; reminiscence, painting, ball games, fishing, making music, and much much more are ahead! CCTV Our sister home, Auden House, has benefitted from the use of CCTV in public areas of the home for several years now, in corridors, lounges, dinning room, conservatory and external areas. It has helped us significantly reduce the risk around the home, especially where residents are mobile. There are no cameras installed in bedrooms, bathrooms, or WCs for obvious privacy reasons. We would now like to seek your views on the installation of CCTV in the public areas, including external areas, at the Woodlands. Please give us a call, or pop into see us, or join us at the next Relatives meeting to air your views. Carehome.co.uk Thank you to those who have posted a review on www.carehome.co.uk.
